[...] It’s not a traditional recipe by any stretch of the imaganation but once you taste the rich and creamy drink you won’t care too much about that. This is actually a repeat for those of you who have been reading the Spirit World since the beginning. I talked about it in my very first Happy Hour at Home post last December. Our readership has grown so much during that time that I figured it was time to repeat it again. [...]

This truly is the most decadent of recipes! In my college years we used to by cartons of Trader Joe's mix and, while it was pretty good, it wouldn't stand a chance against this one! The butter vs margarine would make a big difference, too! :-) There are just times they are not interchangeable and this is definitely one of them!.

The first time I ran across a reference to Hot Buttered Rum was in a novel I read (this was about ten years ago and I don't remember the title of the novel). The words Hot Buttered Rum sounded so wonder, rich, and warming that I decided I had to have one. Unfortunately, the recipe I found didn't look nearly as decadent as yours. Part of the problem could have been that all I had in way of "butter" was a tub of margarine.
