New Tool: Cocktail Whisk

Cocktail WhiskAlthough I like my gadgets probably more than most people, I have been in the same camp with Robert in that I’ve never really felt a need to have an official “barspoon“. Generally, anything I have on hand at the time has sufficed, be it a teaspoon or soupspoon and often I use a table knife as it will easily slip into a glass filled with ice.

While browsing at my local Crate and Barrel a few days ago I came across something that grabbed my attention - a cocktail whisk! Now, I must confess that for some reason I am very fond of whisks in all of their various representations. I’m not really sure why I find them so interesting but I do. I have quite a collection of large and small; doubles and singles; round, flat and egg-shaped. So it’s really no surprise this one caught my eye. But, having said all that, I do believe this will be a great tool!

With it’s long handle and relatively small whisk, this baby will easily reach to the bottom of a cocktail shaker or tall cooler style glass. The whisk is small and flexible enough to make it’s way past a stack of ice cubes, if need be (I wouldn’t want to use it that way on a regular basis), and the whisking action is much better at blending quickly and thoroughly than the motion from a traditional spoon. I’m looking forward to spending many happy sessions with my new toy!

Great site guys. Wish I had found you earlier. Come visit mine if you’re ever thirsty.

Thanks, Jamie! Now that you have found us we hope to have you visit on a regular basis!

I took a quick look at your site and will need to spend some more time there - lots and lots of info!

Even better, I hope to be up in Vancouver in the near future and will have to stop by Lumière!

[…] I was first drawn to Lumière when the bar manager, Jaime, left a comment on a post back in May. I took a look at his site and the Lumière site and decided this was a place I really should have been before! I’d been planning to get to Vancouver for a weekend so I made a little note on my “things to do” list. […]
