Visiting Brewpubs With Kids
Lunch is the ideal time of the day to visit a brewpub with a near-three year old. All the brewpubs I’ve ever been to are kid-friendly. A brewpub is a family place. Brewpubs aren’t rough bars where people go to get drunk, they are restaurants that serve fine handcrafted beers. Most brewpubs are equipped with crayons and something to color on, but if you are going to spend two hours at a brewpub with your three year old, you’ll need more than a few crayons and a coloring book. Fortunately our son likes to eat, so we can keep him busy for a while with one of the kid’s plates. Appalachian Brewing Company in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania even had French fries shaped like smiley faces. For that second hour though you’ll have to break out the big entertainment guns. My wife and I travel with a portable DVD player and a selection of movies for my son. When he starts to get restless we can pop in a DVD and he’s good while his papa works his way through the beer list.
