Absinthe in France

Absinthe has long held a fascination for many people and, as with many things, it’s ban in the early 1900s only added to it’s allure. At that time Absinthe was reported to cause madness in some people and so the ban was to protect the public good. Those claims have been disputed and who knows for sure what role it actually played?

It’s a key ingredient in several classic cocktails, as Robert has reported. Recently several countries have removed the ban or some, like Spain, never banned Absinthe as Sal tells us.

And now we have a view from another perspective. Recently David Lebovitz, an American expat living in Paris, reported on the state of Absinthe in France. His interesting post gives you a glimpse into Absinthe culture in Paris.
