Chintz & Company

Chintz & Company

One of my favorite places to shop for glassware and other pieces for entertaining is a shop in Vancouver called Chintz & Company. Located in an unassuming brick building a few steps above the sidewalk you can almost pass right by if you don’t happen to look up at the right time or just have an insatiable curiosity that makes you check out every little storefront you come across.

From the street the shop looks small. Once you enter it is actually a bit overwhelming! The first floor is a huge room stuffed to the rafters with dishes, glassware, decorative odds and ends, vases, silk flowers, jewelry, bath products and furniture. Then there is a downstairs! Downstairs is mostly furniture but you’ll still find interesting odds and ends tucked in here and there. There’s probably even more that I’m just not remembering or haven’t noticed yet.

I always make this one of my stops on my trips to Vancouver. Even with knowing what to expect that first view as I enter the door is a sensory overload. I’ve learned to cope by first taking a little stroll around to just soak it all in. Then I do a second loop and actually take the time to focus on specific items. Once I do, it’s then a matter of limiting what special and fun pieces will make it back over the border with me.

If you are in Vancouver and looking for fun and interesting pieces to stock your bar glassware collection make a little time to stop by Chintz & Company. You’ll be glad you did!

Additional locations can be found in Victoria, Edmonton and Calgary.

Just that picture alone makes me want to plan a trip to Canada … off to check out the web site.

:-) The website doesn’t really do it justice but it’s still better than nothing!
