Bombay Sapphire Perfect Pairings Competition
BOMBAY SAPPHIRE, GQ and Gourmet Magazine are presenting a very interesting challenge in San Francisco, Dallas, Chicago, Miami, New York and Boston. I am so bummed! I just found out about this competition and the entry deadline has passed. At least for most of the teams. However, there is a site and a newsletter that will fill me (and you!) in on all the details of the actual competitions.
Here’s the general idea: teams of celebrity chefs and bartenders will be paired with “local talent” to create food and beverage menus. Right now each host city has two dates and two teams per date. Although most cities are closed for entry, it looks like the competition in San Francisco will be a bit different. According to the website, the teams will be picked on site from those who volunteer. So if you live in San Francisco keep these dates in mind: Tuesday, September 19, 2006 and Tuesday, October 17, 2006. Both events will be held at the W Hotel - 181 3rd Street.
Now, here’s the part that I’m not clear about. The site indicates that:
Event guests will not only get to watch this exciting culinary and cocktail challenge, they will also mingle with local celebrities, sample delicious BOMBAY SAPPHIRE cocktails, and enjoy gourmet hors d’oeuvres from celebrated chefs.
However, it’s not exactly clear on if you need a ticket or how you would obtain one. Maybe you need to sign up for the newsletter to find out. In any case, the rest of us will definitely need to sign-up for the newsletter just to even live vicariously!
