This is truly an awesome vodka, smooth, with a pure clean taste. I would not want to mix with anything as the taste is great on it's own. I live in Alaska and cannot get it here, but have tried it when i have been visting back east. Buy a few bottles and bring it home, it's worth it.

Better late than never! Glad you enjoyed the Cold River, Jeff!

There's one US potato vodka that I've been hearing about but have not tried. It's called Blue Ice and is also from Idaho (which makes sense with spuds being such a huge crop there). Not sure of it's availability but here's a link to their site: http://www.blueicevodka.com/

I'm a little late to the party here . . . anyway, I have family in Maine and finally got around to getting a bottle of Cold River ($29.99 in New Hampshire). It's my favorite sipping vodka now. I have yet to try it in a martini, and when I do it will be extra dry (as always).

I'd love to find some other potato-based US vodkas to compare. Are CR and Teton the only ones? Teton isn't available in the Northeast.

We picked up a bottle of this at the distillery on a recent trip to Maine, and just tried it the other day. I've been drinking it with tonic and a little lime and it's really good! My first instinct was to call it creamy which I though seemed weird for vodka, but I'm glad to see you called it that too (I'm not crazy!). It sort of reminds me of cream soda, only not sweet. It is kind of expensive, but what a great treat! To me it's totally worth it.

Hi Jim!
thanks for your comment. The idea of drinking vodka hot is very foreign to me, I must say! Maybe I'll have to get brave and try it. Then, again I hate to waste something I love so much cold... ;-)

What a find! Cold River vodka is, by far, the most smooth spirit I have ever tasted. And Cold River does have a slight "taste" with a hint of vanilla that I found most pleasing. I tried Cold River hot (great juxtaposition) and was blowen away... smooth, little, if any, bite. Served heated it reminds me of a very high grade saki. Try Cold River hot. I think you will be as impressed as I.
