What is the Session?
You all are familiar with “Mixology Monday” and some of you have probably heard about “Wine Blogging Wednesday“, well, the beer bloggers of the world decided that if the liquor and grape people had their coordinated blogging events that we malty types should have one two: enter The Session.
The Session is the brain child of beer writer Stan Hieronymus, author of Brew Like a Monk (which I’ve written about here on The Spirit World). Stan hosted the first Session on March 2nd at his blog, Appellation Beer. The subject was “Not your father’s Irish Stout.” Brewsday (being a Tuesday event) participated early with a stout cocktail post: Caribbean Night (stout and coffee liqueur). Then kept with the theme of The Session for the rest of the month with an Irish Stout, Snake Chaser, from Lakefront, and a Black Bart beer cocktail (stout and cola, not my favorite combination if you will recall).
This month’s theme is “Day of the Dubbels” and will be hosted by ur-beer-blogger Alan McLeod, editor of and principal contributor to A Good Beer Blog.
We’ll be celebrating The Session on Friday with another installment in my “Style of the Month” series, so check back here on Friday for the low down on Dubbels.
