Girly Drinks for Guys?

michelob.jpgThe folks at Michelob are trying out something a little different, at least for the rest of the summer anyway.  For guys who are looking for something a little fruitier, but still want to be holding onto something manly in front of their posse, Michelob has the answer … Ultra Fruit Infused Beers, for when a regular beer just won’t do.

“Adults who live an active lifestyle will appreciate the subtle fruit flavors and light effervescence found in these beers,” said Jill Vaughn, Anheuser-Busch brewmaster. “Michelob ULTRA Fruit Infused beers are perfectly balanced and best enjoyed when paired with bold ethnic dishes and lighter fare such as grilled chicken.”

  • Michelob ULTRA Fruit Infused Pomegranate Raspberry alongside marinated pork and fresh vegetables. The subtle hint of berry in the beer plays off the tenderness of the meat and the light carbonation brings out the flavors in most grilled vegetables.
  • Michelob ULTRA Fruit Infused Tuscan Orange Grapefruit complements a variety of lighter foods such as salads and grilled chicken. The tanginess of grapefruit and clean citrus taste enhances these dishes’ overall flavor.
  • Michelob ULTRA Fruit Infused Lime Cactus is best enjoyed with bold ethnic fare such as a spicy chorizo-based dish or carne asada tacos because the beer balances the dishes’ heat and brings out the subtle smokiness. It also pairs well with seafood.
  • Eleven bottles retails for $12, but you better hurry … they’ll only be available until Labor Day.

Cate, I hate to contradict you, but I think these are guy drinks for girls, not the other way around! :) I’m very much NOT a fan of infused beers… Lambics have done fruit beers for a long time… I never cared for the fruit with it.

Curt - lol, that’s quite possible.

I think the infused beers are a refreshing change, although I don’t believe they have what it takes to remain on the market. Beer drinkers like beer not fruit.
