The Everything Bartender’s Book
It would be difficult to pay attention to bartending and mixology, without running across the name “Cheryl Charming.” Her first book, published in 2000, was “Miss Charmings Book of Bar Amusements,” and was a collection of the various magic tricks, amusements, and challenges that some bartenders use to entertain their customers, and some customers use to wrangle a free drink or two out of a fellow customer.
Since then, Cheryl has been busy. She’s written so many books that I’ve frankly lost count, although I expect she hasn’t. Her latest book is “The Everything Bartender’s Book,” or more correctly I should say it is the “2nd Edition” of this book. The first edition had another author, and in taking over this new edition, Cheryl not only increased the recipe count from 600 to 750, but the book also presents a total rewrite of the accompanying details and information which recounts the underlying knowledge and skills of the bartender. Since Cheryl has been a long-time bartender, in a variety of bars across the country, and the seas, she has gained a tremendous amount of very practical hands-on experience.
Cheryl is a delightful person, with an impish and infectious nature. She relishes at entertaining her customers, as well as being the consummate bartender and hostess. Wherever she goes, she is always good at making friends as well as making a memorable impact. If just a fraction of her enthusiasm and personality can be passed on in the books that she writes, then each and every one of them should be considered a “must-have” by any bartender, or bartender wanna-be.
