Following the trends in consumption and style, Cîroc has just launched the Cîroc Drink Collection, a series of special cocktails inspired by the colors of fashion. All recipes are Martinis and appear at the moment of the release of the movie “Sex and the City” in the Brazil.

The cocktails can be found during the month of May in bars like Alucci Alucci, Budha Bar, Esch Café and Gabriel in Sao Paulo and prices range from USD 10 to 25.
Red, gray, yellow, purple and black are the colors chosen and follow the trendy colors of the season.
Costumers will still be presented with a catalogue by the fashion photographer clicked exclusively by Paul Vainer for the French luxury brand of the vodka.

What most impressed me throughout the campaign was the care and delicacy in the development of the recipes. Products of high quality associated with the distilled chosen, sugar syrup, passion fruit jelly, as the ingredient of sweetness of the drink instead of the already beat refined sugar. Drops, spices, fruits unusually blend gently with liqueurs. That certainly indicates that the high mixology has taken off in Brazil, has become a reality and is a great pleasure to have at this time.

Cheers.

Yoichi 20-year-old is the first variety outside Scotland to win the coveted single malt award from industry bible Whisky Magazine, scotching the hopes of dozens of other varieties, including last year’s winner, Talisker 18-year-old, from the Isle of Sky.

Yoichi, which is distilled near Sapporo City on the Japanese island of Hokkaido and sells for up to £150 a bottle, was praised by judges for its “amazing mix of big smoke and sweet blackcurrant“, “explosive aroma” and “big, long and sweet finish“, reports the Sunday Times.

In fact, Japanese whisky makers, traditionally sneered at by connoisseurs, were celebrating a historic double, after Suntory Hibiki, the brand advertised so unenthusiastically by Bill Murray’s character in Lost In Translation, scooped the prize for the world’s best blend.

Absolut Vodka, perhaps the last state-owned vodka in Europe, will be privatized next year. The Swedish government will auction off its parent company Vin & Spirit, considered the crown jewel of entrepreneurial heritage in the state.

The sale of the company could fill the state’s coffers with the equivalent of about five billion euros. The government confirmed that talks have already begun with several potential buyers and have set two conditions: the group of Vin & Spirit companies must be sold together, and Absolut Vodka must continue to be produced in Swedish territory.

The world’s largest producers of wine & spirits, corporations such as France’s Pernod-Ricard, Britain’s Diageo, and U.S’s Bacardi, have all shown interest in purchasing Vin & Spirit.

This is the most important step in the privatization program, which is being carried out by the new government of Estocolomo. The goal is to raise the equivalent of 20 billion euros. Absolut Vodka is a Swedish product that has been most successful as an export. Last year Absolut sold 89 million liters in 126 countries.

Few years ago, Caipirinha shows in all serious researches about the style of drinking, as one of the recipes of most world increase. We can find the combination of lemon, sugar and cachaça around the world, from Canada to Switzerland, from South Africa to Japan. Now what is behind this brazilians fever must be carefully observed.

It is common knowledge that the process of acceptance of important recipes comes along trends of your generations, like Dry Martini on 20’s, the shooters on confuse and decaying 80’s.

Caipirinha not only follow new trends but also changes the way of thinking of the society, like the search for natural ingredients, the return of minimalism, the acceptment of kitsch as an answer to the repeated glamour of 90’s. The process to coloring and the practicity on preparations push the recipe abroad. Examples of acceptment of these new trends we have the Mojito, wich return as na icon of this transition, whithin “Caipirinha” and with it is joined the tropical concept – that has nothing like with the caribbean concept of flavour excess, colour and sweet.

It is necessary to make clearly that according to nº 4.851 Brazilian Law from 2003, that regularize “Cachaça” as a tipical brazilian spirit, and needs especifications in your production, we had a worldwide opening for this distilled that has always been confunded with run, and soon appeared many companies especialized in this Cachaça only for export.

Even though each region, continent or country transform their realities and needs to serve determinated recipe and for it happen, have to modify the original recipe (what is subject for a whole article), I hope that don’t become an usual recipe as one. I tasted at Sweden, with lemon, (not the Tahiti lemon, green, but the yellow one), and brown sugar instead of refined sugar.

In a closer article, I’ll write again about “Caipirinha”, looking for answers for one of most interesting and curious legends and truth about the history and style of drinking Caipirinha.
